Galloway's Talking News USB Memory Stick

Galloway's £75,000 Digital Audio Service Appeal

Galloway’s is changing the way it produces its talking newspapers and magazines. After 30 years of recording on tape we are to transfer to making recordings on memory sticks.

We can only do this with your help, as the scale of this task is daunting. Galloway’s makes over 3200 recordings each week across 34 titles for 2200 listeners, that’s over 160,000 tapes each year.

The whole project, including the installation new equipment in the studio will cost around £75,000. Just to provide each listener with a player and two memory sticks will cost £30, or £66,000 in total.

Our service which is free of charge, has been a victim of its own success as with the support of over 200 volunteers, it has grown into one of the largest in the UK. Your help is vital to keep the service running and equip it for the future and the next generation of listeners.
