Our Talking Newspaper Service is an essential resource for many visually impaired people. Galloway’s currently produces 34 regular publications, and sends out around 3000 recordings each week.
The service provides audio recordings of local and national publications. Our output caters for a wide range of interests from news and views to more specialist areas, such as farming, sport, and faith issues.
Whilst we record digitally, currently most of the recordings are distributed on cassette tape, however, we are experimenting to find the best digital format. A number of publications are available on USB Audio Plug and many others are now on CD including our very popular Lancashire Eye Monthly Magazine.
Galloway's is the local agent for the British Wireless for the Blind Fund.
To enable the service to be completely free of charge to the listener, we rely on donations and legacies to meet the annual running costs of £50,000.
