On Thursday 9th February we had our Get Active walk in Lancaster, with 26 walkers taking part. This walk started and finished at Lancaster railway station and took in the Fairfield community orchard and the Lune estuary footpath.
We crossed over Westbourne Road from the railway station and followed the sign posted footpath that took us past the playground and on towards Fairfield community orchard. The paths are well made and only slightly muddy in places. In the orchard there are trees of various kinds including Apple, Pear, plum and Damson. The paths continue through the orchard and around the back of a few houses before splitting. We took the path that leads to the left and followed that until we came to Aldcliffe Road. We turned right and then took the first road on the right to avoid walking on the quiet narrow road. This then leads onto Adcliff Hall Lane which we followed until we met the Lune Estuary path where we turned right and head back towards Lancaster. At Freemans wood the path comes to a crossroad and we kept to the main path which leads to New Quay Road. We followed this road until we got to Lune Road where we turned right and headed back to the Railway Station.
This walk was on well-made paths and only slightly muddy in a couple of places. If you would like to come along on one of our Get Active walks or any of the activities we offer please get in touch with James on 01772 744148 to find out more
