Galloway's operates four 'Sight Advice Centres' located at Morecambe, Southport, Preston & Chorley from where a range of information and support can be obtained.
Whether you have recently experienced sight loss, need information on behalf of a friend or relative, or need advice choosing a piece of equipment, help is near at hand.
Galloway's is the local agent for RNIB products and maintains stocks of equipment from most of the major suppliers, from talking watches, microwaves, games and white canes. Around 1000 individual items are held in stock at any one time.
We believe that ordering specialist equipment through a catalogue, when you can't see very well and then getting it delivered from hundreds of miles away is fraught with problems. Galloway's aims to provide a comfortable, private environment where equipment can be inspected and tried out prior to purchase to ensure the most appropriate item is obtained.
Our Sight Advice Centres often act as the gateway to other services helping link people with the most appropriate support networks.
Equipment is supplied by Galloway's at subsidised cost, the charity makes no profit on sales, preferring to ensure items are available to service users at the lowest possible cost.
Sight Advice Centre Opening Times
Our Sight Advice centre in Penwortham is open between 10am and 4pm and offers plenty of advice and information and the opportunity to try out the latest pieces of equipment. To allow enough time for your visit, we operate on an appointment basis. Please let us know if you would like to make an appointment by calling on our usual number – 01772 744148. Our Morecambe, Southport and Chorley Sight Advice Centres offer slightly different opening times and you should contact each office direct.
