Galloway's
Society for the Blind
Leave the World a Better Place

It is a daily struggle for Galloway's to raise the £600,000 a year which is needed to carry on the work of the Society. However, although large, this sum only just pays for our day to day running expenses.

This means that new projects, have to rely on the generosity of people who remember the Society in their Will.

People like Mrs Alice Simpson, whose £10,000 gift has funded the cost of 4 new fast copying machines for our talking newspaper and magazine service. This wonderful gift will enable us to produce more tapes of better sound quality, in a shorter time, benefiting around 4000 people.

In 1995 Mrs Walker of Penwortham, left Galloway's over £130,000 which helped us to provide supported living accommodation for six visually impaired people within the grounds of Howick House. Her kindness and our appreciation of her generosity will go on far into the future.

Galloway's would not be here without people leaving us bequests, our whole existence at Howick House is due to the Will of William Wilding Galloway whose £10,000 gift in the 1930s purchased Howick House, a building whilst being the centre of the Society's services, is worth now over £800,000.

Your bequest, to Galloway's Society for the Blind will go on supporting and improving the quality of life for blind and partially sighted people far into the future, it is truly a gift beyond your time.

The Society has a Free Will scheme operating with a number of supportive local solicitors across the district. This means that your Will can be drawn up Free of Charge. All you need to do is contact us first and we'll put you in touch with a local Solicitor. We will not and cannot insist you leave Galloway's a bequest in your Will, but several people have and we hope you will too - and remember, everything you discuss between you and your Solicitor is confidential.

For further information or just a confidential chat, please contact me by telephone on 01772 753709 or write to Galloway's Society for the Blind, Howick House, Howick Park Ave, Penwortham Preston PR1 0LS. You can also email me on peter.taylor@galloways.org.uk.

If you do decide to help us in this way we will never know until it's too late to thank you. Therefore, please accept our thanks now on behalf of the future generations of blind and partially sighted people whose quality of life you will influence by your kindness.

Leave money to Gallowy's Society for the Blind? Thats the last thing we want you to do!
