A day in the life of Adele

My name is Adele and I am the receptionist and administrator at Galloway’s. Most people will meet me when they first come into reception at our site in Penwortham.

My role is extremely varied and there really is no such thing as a typical day for me. I feel that a large part of my job is to make people feel at ease.

I know that for many people, coming into Galloway’s for the first time can be a big step. So I always make sure that I greet people with a warm Galloway’s welcome. My day often begins with taking calls. These are usually from people who have been referred to us by opticians and eye clinics but sometimes they can be a little unusual. I once took a call from a lady who was complaining about a pie that she bought from a Galloway’s pie shop!

It’s important that I know everything that is going on at Galloway’s so that when people ask, I can tell them about all the different groups and activities going on – I’m a bit of a Galloway’s encyclopedia. The most rewarding part of my job is that I get to see the difference Galloway’s makes to people lives.

From that first contact following a referral where I can book people onto a sight loss advice appointment or a low vision assessment, to seeing those same people visiting our social groups, or going on trips and other activities. For me it’s one of the nicest parts of my role.
