A Lancashire woman is offering people the unique chance to have a ceramic made of their pet to raise money for sight loss charity Galloway’s.

Christine Cummings, of Holmeswood, near Rufford, will auction the prize, worth £250, this Friday evening on Facebook, with all proceeds going towards supporting blind and partially sighted people.

The 52-year-old, who runs her own business Christine Cummings Ceramics, will also open the bidding for a ceramic pig, which would normally sell at £175 and a painting, valued at £150.

Christine said: “This is part of an event organised on Instagram called The Great Charity Pot Sale, created by Lora Gilbert Ceramics. She invited other ceramicists to join and raise money for their chosen charity.

“So I opted to support Galloway’s, as I have heard a lot of good things about what it does through talking to the charity’s chairman Simon Booth. I was inspired after watching a video of him, his children and elderly mother Mavis walking last summer to raise funds and I wanted to help in some way.

“I am doing the auction on Facebook, as I have a bigger following there. Feel free to take a look at my page.”

Georgia Murphy, fundraising assistant at Galloway’s, said: “This is a great way to donate to charity, whilst coming away with a unique, handmade item, especially if you bid on the commission of a ceramic model of your own pet.

“We are really grateful for Christine’s creative way of supporting us and we encourage you to go on her Facebook page - Christine Cummings Ceramics – to see what she has to offer.

“We wish everyone the best of luck on their bidding.”

Visit Christine Cummings Ceramics on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100044234085517 on Friday January 29. Bidding starts from 6pm.
