A socially distanced and Covid-secure sight loss appointment

EDIT: Under new national lockdown rules, from November 5th, Brew Me Sunshine is closed until further notice.

We know that many of you will be worried about the continuing pandemic and we want to reassure you that we are taking all steps to protect everyone who uses our services, works or volunteers with us.

We have been closely monitoring the Government guidance, and in line with the new three tier announcement, we can confirm we will be continuing face to face appointments at our centres in Penwortham and Morecambe. These are by pre-arranged appointment only.

Both sites are operating strict safety measures to ensure the safety of staff and visitors. This includes maintaining the 2m distance rule and the use of a safety screen, where needed.

The advisory team will be wearing gloves and a blue apron when demonstrating equipment and hand sanitiser will also be provided.

Visitors are asked to wear a mask, unless included in the government’s exemption list.

Appointments will be limited to 30 minutes to allow the team to thoroughly clean down any equipment, surfaces and seating areas.

We can also confirm Brew Me Sunshine cafe, in Victoria Street, will remain open. We will no longer be able to host groups of more than one household or support bubble.

We want to say a big thank you to all our customers for helping us to stay safe so far since opening in September by wearing a face covering when moving around the building and using the sanitising stations provided.

Your welfare is our priority and we will still continue our support, via welfare calls, group telephone activities and online Zoom sessions.

Our ECLO (Eye Clinic Liaison Officer) service is also running at Royal Preston Hospital and Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

We understand this may be a worrying time for some, but we want you to know that we are still here for you. You can call our Penwortham head office on 01772 744148 and you will be put through to one of our sight loss advisors.

You can also contact us online through our Facebook pages. Each centre now has its own Facebook group which we invite people to join to get the latest information about our services and support.

You can also visit our dedicated Coronavirus page https://www.galloways.org.uk/coronavirus.

We will continue to monitor current Government guidance and will keep you informed by phone, email and social media.
