UPDATED – July 19th. The Government has now relaxed all Covid restrictions.

We are incredibly proud of our work in providing support to blind and partially sighted people throughout the pandemic and we recognise it is vital we continue to provide that reassurance now restrictions have ended and we try to get used to a ‘new normal.’

Our centres in Howick, Penwortham, and Victoria Street, Morecambe, are open for low vision assessments and sight loss advice, which are arranged by appointment only.

Our popular Brew Me Sunshine cafe in Morecambe is also open.

Following the recent changes, we will be continuing to work hard to keep our staff and customers safe whilst allowing for some normality to resume.

We will have hand sanitising stations, a screen at the till, and socially distanced seating still in place for now.

There will also remain the opportunity to leave your track and trace details or scan in with the NHS app whenever you visit.

We are now looking at new and exciting ways to meet you in your local community, meaning we can still continue our support and come to you, rather than you always having to come to us.

So for the time being, we will not be opening our centres in Chorley and Southport whilst we make the most of these new opportunities.

Our Talking Together online and telephone group activities are proving very popular where you can listen to some fantastic guest speakers from the comfort of your own home.

We have some great sessions planned over the coming months, including launching a new art class over Zoom this September.

Our Get Active programme is now gathering pace, with weekly walking groups, as well as trips to Water Park in the Lake District and our popular driving day in October.

Bookings will only be taken by contacting us on 01772 744148 and will be on a first come first served basis.

As always, your welfare is our priority and we will still continue our support, with telephone calls, as well as our online and telephone-based Talking Together sessions, and our ongoing Get Active programme.

Our vital ECLO service at Preston and Lancaster hospitals also continues.

We know there have been a lot of changes both within Galloway’s and in the wider world following the pandemic and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

And above all, we want you to know that we are still here for you.

You can call our Penwortham head office on 01772 744148 and you will be put through to one of our sight loss advisors.

You can also contact us online through our Facebook pages and groups.
