Earlier this month, some of our Galloway’s service users had the opportunity to try out gliding at Bowland Forest Gliding Club. We had a fantastic day, enjoying the beautiful views and the sensation of soaring through the clouds.

“Fantastic! The spinning round, the sensation was just amazing. And actually floating through the clouds and having over 180 degrees of view. Everything looks so different up there, so tranquil and peaceful. I could have stayed up there for ages.”
“It was really good, you could see loads. Being in the clouds, it was brilliant.”
“That was amazing, it was really good. The best bit was when we did the turn really fast! I would do it again.”
“It was unbelievably amazing. I actually flew it, Andy said I was really good! I liked doing the rollercoaster dips, up and down. I had butterflies in my stomach! I would definitely do it again.”
“I absolutely loved it. The taking off was ‘wow’, I didn’t know what to expect but it was amazing. The minute we started gliding was really, really good. And then we touched the clouds, which was bumpy. I had a go at steering, and turning both ways.”
“Interesting, different to how I thought. Sometimes it’s better closing your eyes and feeling instead of seeing the view. It’s noisier than I thought, all the wind noise.”
“It was really good, the feeling of going up and down was really good.”
“I was terrified at first, but it was amazing. Nice to have a new experience.”
“We got to about 2,400 feet. The take-off’s a bit sharp, but once you’re up there, the views are fantastic. I took control for a while, did a couple of right turns and a couple of left turns. We found a nice thermal which kept us going for a while!”
