For the last three years, the Bowmen of Pendle and Samlesbury have been working with Galloway’s to enable people living with sight loss to access archery. The group is believed to be the only one in Lancashire which specifically caters for the needs of visually impaired people.
Last week, the club was nominated in the Lancashire Sports Awards for Services to Under-represented Groups and were “Highly Commended” for the work they have done. Club coach, Diane Clarke said she was delighted that the club’s hard work had been recognised. She said: “We are so proud of the recognition that our club is helping people with visual impairments access the sport. “Apart from the social aspects that the group offers, our participants get a real sense of achievement as they progress through the badges.”
The group meets on Fortnightly on Thursdays at the Bowmen of Pendle and Samlesbury’s club house on Nabs Head Lane.
