AUDIO: Updated message from Galloway's surrounding coronavirus and our services

Attention! Coronavirus update

We know that many of you will be worried about the recent outbreak of the coronavirus and we want to reassure you that we are taking all steps to protect everyone who uses our services, works or volunteers with us.

Following the latest Government guidance, we have taken the difficult decision to suspend all face to face services for the next four weeks. This means that, until further notice, all appointments, social groups, Get Active sessions and tech drop in sessions at Penwortham, Chorley, Southport and Morecambe, will be temporarily on hold. If you are booked on to any of these activities, or would normally attend, please do not for now, and we will continue to communicate with you.

Whilst we recognise the health and safety of our staff, volunteers and supporters is absolutely paramount, we are mindful of the most vulnerable people in our community. This is why we are working hard to find new and innovative ways to provide support, advice and guidance for those who may have little or no support. Our Sight Loss Advisors will be contacting you in due course to rearrange any planned appointments and discuss alternative support. We appreciate your patience whilst we do so.

We are pleased to say we will continue our Talking News service to keep you all up to date with your local news. However, to protect our volunteers, we have restricted studio contact, and will be delivering news from the main titles: Lancashire Post, Lancaster Guardian, Morecambe Visitor, Chorley and Leyland Guardian newspapers, and Ormskirk Advertiser.

We will continue to update all our social media and other communication channels to keep you informed and continue to provide support over the phone and online through our Facebook pages. Please check our website for up to date information: https://www.galloways.org.uk/coronavirus

Each centre also has its own Facebook group which we invite you to join to get the latest information about our services and support.

We also take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and we will keep you informed when activity resumes.

If you need urgent support, please call us on 01772 744148 or email enquiries@galloways.org.uk

Best wishes, your team at Galloway’s
